Windrose Stargazer Tower Puzzle Solution & Quest Guide

Windrose Stargazer Tower

If you are currently running around the roof of the Stargazer Tower in the Cursed Swamp looking for hidden clues to solve the locked door, stop. You are overthinking it. The solution to the rotating stone plates is embarrassingly simple, and most players miss it purely because they don't tilt their camera upwards. However, solving this first door is only the beginning. Inside awaits an Observatory Stele that triggers the "Fate of the Prophets" questline. This is arguably the most lucrative side quest in the game. By solving two more identical towers and executing a massive Plague Crusher named Chick Chan, you will walk away with a staggering total of 19 Tumbaga Ingots—enough to Ascend multiple pieces of endgame gear to Epic rarity. Here is exactly how to do it.

The Stargazer Tower Puzzle Solution

When you approach the sunken stairwell of a Stargazer Tower (a small ziggurat structure), you are confronted by a locked door flanked by two circular stone plates. Each plate can be rotated through four different runic patterns.

The Embarrassing Reality: There are no secret notes to read, and no hidden mechanisms on the roof. The answer is literally carved into the wall inches above the puzzle itself.

The Execution: If you tilt your camera up and look directly at the stone panel directly above each rotating plate, then you will see a static, carved rune.

Simply interact with the left plate until the rune facing the top (the 12 o'clock position) perfectly matches the carving on the wall above it. Repeat this for the right plate. The door will groan and open immediately.

The Initial Reward: Inside the vault, you will find an Ancient Chest containing 3x Tumbaga Ingots and various materials. Looting this completes the specific POI for exploration XP.

The "Fate Of The Prophets" Questline

Solving the first door is just the appetizer. Inside the vault, directly behind the chest, sits a glowing Observatory Stele. Interacting with it permanently locks you into the "Fate of the Prophets" side quest.

The Grind (The 1+2 Structure):

  1. The game will mark two additional Stargazer Towers on your map.
  2. You must travel to both and solve the exact same "look up" puzzle to access their steles.

The Hardcore Warning: Do not treat these trips as simple puzzle runs. Every Stargazer Tower in the Cursed Swamp is a fortified strongpoint heavily defended by hordes of Level 15 Plague enemies. If you run in with Level 10 weapons expecting a quiet puzzle session, you will be shredded. Equip your best Cleave weapon (like the Plague Halberd) to manage the swarms before attempting to rotate the plates.

Boss Fight: Executing Chick Chan

Once you interact with all three steles, the quest updates, directing you to the "Warlord's Death Site" in the dead center of the island. There is no puzzle here—just a massive named Plague Crusher called Chick Chan wandering the swamp.

The Boss Mechanic (Do Not Melee Mosh):

Chick Chan is a massive HP sponge. If you just run up to its legs and start hacking away with a Saber, you are going to break your weapons before it dies.

If you want to kill it efficiently, then you must exploit its weakness. The Crusher has large, glowing boils on its body.

The Tactic: Equip your best Musket or Pistol. Backpedal and fire precise shots directly into the boils. When a boil bursts, it deals catastrophic Posture damage to Chick Chan. Once its Posture breaks and it falls to its knees, swap to your heaviest melee weapon and unleash your full combo. Rinse and repeat.

The Ultimate Payout:

Defeating Chick Chan and turning in the quest yields a massive injection of 10x Tumbaga Ingots. Combined with the ingots looted from the 3 Ancient Chests inside the towers (3x3=9), completing this entire sequence grants you 19 Tumbaga Ingots. This single quest will fund the Ascension of almost your entire endgame loadout.

FAQ: Stargazer Quest Troubleshooting

Q: I rotated the plates to match the wall exactly, but the door won't open. Is it bugged?

A: Make sure the matching rune on the rotating plate is in the absolute top (12 o'clock) position, not just visible on the plate. If it still doesn't open, interact with the plate to spin it a full 360 degrees back to the correct position; sometimes the server needs a refresh to register the state.

Q: I found Chick Chan early while exploring. Can I kill it before doing the towers?

A: No. The named version of the boss, "Chick Chan," and the subsequent quest completion trigger will only spawn at the Warlord's Death Site after you have successfully interacted with all three Observatory Steles in the correct sequence.

Q: What do I actually use Tumbaga Ingots for?

A: Tumbaga Ingots are the premium endgame currency used at the Shipwright's Workshop and Weaponsmith. You spend them strictly to Ascend Rare weapons, armors, and ship gear into Epic tier, which unlocks their second, broken passive abilities.
